Quick overview
Serial Numbers (S/N) uniquely identify your camera, while Model Numbers show the product family. Use these numbers for warranty, support, manuals, and accessories.
Common places to check
Most cameras have a sticker or metal-etched label on the bottom or side.
Some compact cameras hide the serial number inside the battery door.
Certain kit lenses include serial numbers etched on the lens barrel.
Check the box β barcode labels often show both Model and S/N.
Invoices or order confirmation emails may list the serial number.
Register your camera online to see its serial number (Canon, Nikon, Sony apps or accounts).
Troubleshooting if you can't find a label
- Remove protective cases or covers.
- Use a flashlight to inspect small or recessed labels.
- If the camera is non-functional, check the box, receipt, or manufacturer account.
- Avoid peeling off internal labels β this may void warranty.
